Check out April Brucker tonight at 6:00pm
Growing up in rural Western Pennsylvania, April Brucker started her show business journey as a 13-year-old ventriloquist. In high school, she performed in several musicals, hosted her own children’s show on public access television and was editor of her school’s literary journal. After
graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting from New York University Tisch School of the Arts, April worked as a singing telegram delivery girl in the Big Apple while pursuing her career as an actress and standup comedienne. Her breakout moment came when April’s obsession with puppets was chronicled on an episode of “My Strange Addiction” (TLC). Appearances followed on “Entertainment Tonight,” “Inside
Edition” and “The Today Show.” But a story in a British tabloid gained her worldwide notoriety. “The Daily Mail” published a story with the headline, “Ventriloquist who splashes out $20,000 a year on her 16 PUPPETS that even have their own bedroom dumps her fiancé… after he tells her ‘it’s them or me!’” The story went viral about this petite Monroesque blonde who had broken up with her partner after he had given her an ultimatum — and she had picked her dummies. With fan mail and marriage proposals coming in worldwide, April toured comedy clubs and performed her one-woman show at New York cabarets and theatres, plus continued to appear
on numerous television shows, including “What Would You Do? (ABC), “The Layover” (Travel Channel), “Liquid Lunch” (Newsmax) and many more. She also published her first book,” I Came, I Saw, I Sang — Memoirs of a Singing Telegram Delivery Girl.” Despite a blossoming show business career, April’s love life wilted after the departure of her fiancé. Sirens in her midtown neighborhood usually signaled yet another breakup with a loser
boyfriend. Soon, April went from seeking Mr. Right to just desperately seeking Mr. Okay, a theme which became a running theme in her standup comedy. However, a new figure would come into April’s life and once again April Brucker would attract worldwide publicity.
In 2016, April was a spokesperson for STAT (Stand Together Against Trump), which staged the largest protest at the Republican National Convention. She gave more than 100 press interviews in Cleveland’s Public Square with her new companion: Donald J. Tramp, a ventriloquist dummy with a striking resemblance to the now 45th President of the United States — complete with orange quiff, squinty eyes and an outrageous mouth. From Cleveland to the Presidential Debates, April and Mr. Tramp received online, print and television coverage worldwide from ABC News to the Associated Press, Yahoo Style to The Wrap and the “Düsseldorf Handelsblatt” to the “Reykjavik Árvakur.” 2 After more than 15 years in New York, April moved to Las Vegas and premiered “April Unwrapped,” her one-woman show in which from her attire to her jokes reveals more than her Mother would ever approve of. Accompanying her are her textile teammates: the glam gold digger May Wilson; Sure-Lay, the vivacious Vegas vagina; Vinnie Two-Times, the marvelous mob magician; Dwayne Newton, Mr. (Almost) Las Vegas; and of course Donald J. Tramp, the 45th President of the Uninformed States of America. Plus, April also daringly demonstrates TJGL (PRON: TEE-juggle), the alluring art of towel juggling, which she introduced on ABC-TV’s “Videos After Dark” hosted by Bob Saget and then later launched as a “how-to” online product. Although the Coronavirus Pandemic cancelled her Las Vegas run in February after only two performance, April is scheduled to relaunch “April Unwrapped” in late May 2020 with a residency at Alexis Park Resort Las Vegas. In 2019, April was awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing/Screenwriting by Antioch University Los Angeles. “The Wrap” called April, “sweet, adorable, with a hint of insanity.” “Broadway World” called her, “politically incorrect for conservatives and liberals alike.” Political provocateur Roger Stone called April “his favorite vent.”
